CBSE introduces more payment options for re evaluation applications

Students can now use multiple online payment methods for a smoother process

CBSE introduces more payment options for re-evaluation applications

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a major relief for students applying for verification and re-evaluation of their board examination results. The board has introduced additional online payment options to make the application process easier, faster, and more convenient for students across the country.

The move comes at a time when thousands of students are applying for verification and re-evaluation of their Class 10 and Class 12 examination results. Many students and parents had earlier reported difficulties with online payments, including transaction failures and delays in processing applications.

To address these concerns, CBSE has expanded the available payment facilities on its verification and re-evaluation portal. The board hopes that the new arrangements will help students complete their applications without facing technical problems.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, CBSE informed students that they can now use several online payment methods while submitting their applications.

According to the board, candidates can make payments through UPI, net banking, credit cards, and debit cards using the designated payment gateways available on the portal.

The board also stated that the response from students has been positive. As of 9:30 a.m. on the day of the announcement, nearly 40,000 students had successfully completed their applications using the available payment facilities without any major issues.

The announcement has been welcomed by students and parents who were concerned about payment-related difficulties during the re-evaluation process.

More payment gateways available

To make the process more accessible, CBSE has partnered with several major banks for payment processing.

The verification and re-evaluation portal now offers payment gateways from State Bank of India (SBI), Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, and Indian Bank.

One important point highlighted by CBSE is that students do not need to have accounts in any of these banks to use the payment facilities. They can choose any of the available payment gateways and make payments using their preferred banking service.

This flexibility is expected to reduce the burden on students who may have previously faced challenges due to limited payment options.

The verification and re-evaluation process is important for students who believe there may be an error in the marking of their answer sheets or who want their marks reviewed.

Through verification, students can request a check to ensure that all answers have been evaluated correctly and that marks have been totaled accurately. Re-evaluation allows students to seek a fresh review of specific answers if they feel their responses were not assessed properly.

Because the process directly affects students' academic records and future opportunities, smooth payment and application systems are essential.

The introduction of multiple payment options is expected to improve the overall experience and reduce stress for applicants during this crucial period.

Changes come amid CBSE controversy

The announcement regarding payment options comes at a time when CBSE is facing scrutiny over issues related to its newly introduced On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.

Recently, the central government appointed senior IAS officer Lokhande Prashant Sitaram as the new chairman of CBSE. Senior Indian Information Service officer Varun Bhardwaj has also been appointed as the new CBSE secretary.

These appointments followed major changes in the board's leadership after concerns were raised about the digital evaluation process used in the Class 12 examinations.

Former CBSE chairman Rahul Singh and secretary Himanshu Gupta were moved out of their positions amid allegations related to irregularities in the implementation of the On-Screen Marking system.

The OSM system was introduced to modernise the evaluation process by allowing answer sheets to be scanned and assessed digitally. The system was expected to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors.

However, some students later alleged that the scanned copies of answer sheets uploaded on the board's portal did not match their handwriting. These claims raised concerns about possible mismatches in the digital evaluation process.

The issue quickly attracted attention from students, parents, and education experts. Many demanded a thorough investigation and greater transparency regarding the handling of answer sheets.

In response to the controversy, the government established a one-member inquiry committee to examine issues related to the procurement and implementation of services used in the On-Screen Marking system.

The committee is being headed by S. Radha Chauhan, Chairperson of the Capacity Building Commission.

According to an official memorandum issued by the Cabinet Secretariat, the committee has been authorised to seek assistance from officials of various government departments whenever necessary. The Capacity Building Commission will provide administrative and secretarial support to help the inquiry function smoothly.

The committee has been asked to submit its findings and recommendations to the Department of Personnel and Training within one month.

Apart from allegations regarding answer-sheet mismatches, students and parents have also expressed concerns about technical glitches, failed online transactions, delays in application processing, and communication issues during the verification and re-evaluation process.

These concerns led to demands for stronger monitoring mechanisms and better transparency in the examination system.

Education experts believe that while technology can improve efficiency, it must be implemented carefully to maintain public trust. Any mistakes or technical issues in examination processes can significantly affect students' academic futures.

Against this backdrop, CBSE's decision to expand payment options is being seen as an effort to improve the user experience and address one of the practical difficulties faced by students.

The board has assured students that the new payment system is functioning smoothly and that multiple gateways have been made available to ensure uninterrupted access to verification and re-evaluation services.

As thousands of students continue to apply for review of their examination results, the additional payment options are expected to make the process more convenient, reduce delays, and help applicants complete their requests without unnecessary complications. At the same time, the ongoing inquiry into the On-Screen Marking system will likely play an important role in shaping future reforms aimed at improving transparency and confidence in the CBSE examination process.
